The foundation of the SKRM Gaun"

During the Homeland War, as everywhere in Croatia, a blackout was in force and large ships, trawlers or fishing boats were not allowed to catch fish. As the army only allowed the use of smaller boats, so people, fishermen, went hunting for Smelt. Hunting was done on Island point and Pomašnjak. Ten or twelve boats came and each boat caught 50-100 kilograms of Smelt. Since there was no food during the war, the Smelt from Kaprije fed half of Šibenik, and we decided to name the club Gaun, as we the villagers of Kaprije call this little fish.

SKRM "Gaun" was founded at the meeting of the Founding Assembly held on January 25, 1998. year, and was registered in the register of associations of Šibenik - Knin County on 05.02.1998 at the initiative of Ante Radovčić son of late Luka, Ante Radovčić son of late Martin and Čedo Jelovčić
